Fantasyland is where the Disney Cartoon characters come to life. Its the center of Disneyland, and I think really pays the most homage to Disney’s original idea for Disneyland, a place where kids and adults could play together. It’s also one of Disneyland’s oldest lands, housing the most original rides of any part of the park. Here princesses come to life, storybook characters leap off the page, and people can live their favorite tales.

Imagineering Highlights!

  • Snow White Statues – Over to the right of the castle is snow whites grotto which houses a few marble statues of Snow White and Snow White’s wishing well. Due to a miscommunication with the Italian carver of the statues, they made Snow white the same size as the dwarfs. She is put up higher to make her look bigger and further away. One of the many tricks Imagineers use to mess with size.
  • The Drawbridge – The drawbridge works. It has only be lowered twice, once at opening, and once in 1983 at the rededication of Fantasyland.
  • The Original Rides (opened with the park in 1955)
    • Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride
    • Peter Pan’s Flight
    • Snow White’s Scary Adventures
    • Storybook Land Canal Boats
    • King Arthur Carousel
    • Mad Tea Party
  • King Authors Carousel – Every horse is different, the highlight being Jingles, the horse modeled after Mary Poppins.
