Adventureland was originally designed as True-Life Adventureland, and was based on Walt’s nature documentaries on Africa and Asia. Fun fact, the land was originally supposed to have LIVING animals from Africa, but after realizing that the animals would hide from the guests, they moved to having animatronic animals instead. When Indiana Jones opened, the whole land was redone, to give it more of a 1930’s theme. From hanging vines and orchid trees to the giant timber bamboo, this area of Disneyland really conveys the feeling of a journey to the tropics.
